Another type of brushes on belts, is the use of flat belts. Nowadays, used less frequently due to quite expensive production, as well as lower precision of belt tensioning. They can be found everywhere, where it comes to cross-cutting of surfaces, usually of considerable sizes.
Brushes are usually constructed of 3 layers. Two leather belts are separated by a plastic divider which prevents the belt from overstretching while improving the tearing strength. The filling material is bunched or sewn into the upper part of the belt.
LC – overall length of the flat strip,
LP - length of non-working field,
S - flat belt width ,
SR - working width,
LR - working length of the filling material in the working field,
a - distance from the edge to the center of the first bunch in the working field,
b - distance between bundles in rows,
d - distance between bundles in width,
G - strip thickness,
H - height of the filling material.

Belt brushes can be found in the woodworking industry, where they are used to clean large surfaces, e.g. glued boards. Large width of molds forces the use of this type of belt, collecting contaminants transverse to the movement of the product to be cleaned.
